The Artist

Art is an addiction, a passion, a lifestyle, and my first love. To create is to use art and to be a creator is to be an artist. When asked "why do you 'do' art?" My reply is a thoughtless, "because I can and it calms me." Art has always kept me with a sense of calm, accomplishment, and euphoria.

Even as an infant I knew that I was meant to create and embrace art. When my artistic self began to emerge I was 5 years of age. I created large scale pieces that were uninhibited and surreal in nature.  To let go of these thoughts and put them in visible form was and is a release.

Battling with early onset panic disorder I found art as a therapeutic way to cope and focus. This love for art and this desire to create it and to see it fuels me and keeps me balanced.

The Photographer

I found a love for photography a little later in life. I had my first 35mm camera at the age of 9. I didn't take to photography but was excited to get the film developed. I think I almost saw it as a gift or a package delivered to me and no one else.

Later I got one of the "new" polaroid cameras that gave me what I love best, instant gratifcation. Again, I wasn't as enthused with my subject matter but more about taking a photo of anything just so the camera would be put to work and show me it's little magic trick over and over again.

Around the age of 19 I got my first Nikon. That little coolpix was the first time I took photography as an artform. I fell in love and now with a very upgraded Nikon I have turned my new found artform into a small freelance business and a huge new addiction.
